Updated with Hornady and PMC results...if you want others tested, send them or send $s lol- I am sticking with Gold Dot in 115grn for summer carry and Winchester 147 grn for Winter carry! :)

What other calibers would you be willing to test out Jesse?

I have test beds available for the .40/ .45 / .357/.38 if necessary- I do not shoot those myself any more though!

Want to test some 180grain .40 caliber Hydra Shok and see what kind of results you get?

Sure, I will be honest- Gold Dot is cheaper (ammunition to go has it in stock for half the price of the others...)

But sure, I can get some tests set up!

I've got 9 rounds left from a box of 20, I usually rotate my defense rounds so you can use these for your test. 8-)

Wont be able to test reliability...(feeding) but can test 3 for expansion- and than average 7 for ballistics...

But what else were you shooting through. :?

Per physics and all that fun stuff I adjusted the actual penetration depth to match the medium used - water, milk jugs placed directly in line...there is increased penetration to be expected with just water and plastic walls- this has to be taken into account and was.

Seeing as how ballistic gel is 90.00 for one block (three shots max for efficient measurement.) This is the best alternative- phone books are too hard and dense, water with clothing and plastic is actually around 30% give or take in difference-

btw I am down for donations to buy gel...

Water currently, adjusted for over penetration / three layers of cloth as well.

While it is not ballistic gel (which is close but still lacking compared to flesh- wish we could use death row inmates for this type of testing...) it does work for the purposes I needed (as these tests were for myself and our group of shooters to see what preformed and what didnt.)

I am always fine with donations of gel- also may be investing in the "reusable" stuff that is out there now.

That's fine, I think I've done enough reliability/feed 'tests' with this ammo myself.. :P

Cool- you could always do the same tests I did...they are relatively easy- you would however want a Chrono and lots of Milk jugs of water OR ballistic gel...

If not pm me and I will give you my address and run em through the testing mill!

Lastly- the test medium is generally water - I use a set distance and round as an initial test round to break down penetration etc. Because it is water I am not unfortunately as "accurate" as a gel test.

Hoping to finish the 12 g testing over the next two weekends.

Oh and having a general shoot down this way again...FUN shoot- should have several awesome NFAs in attendance (everything from Browning 30 to a Cobray Mac 10 with suppressor)

PM me for details! ;)
