Can anyone point me to a good chest rig. I don't want to look uber tacticool.

Any suggestions would be awesome!

I normally use a full tactical vest, my vest has rifle and pistol mag pouches and a few extra pouches for other things but I have been thinking of getting just a dedicated chest rig for rifle mags only because sometimes having a fully loaded vest is cumbersome doing certain training and exercises.

I have looked at a few rigs from BlackHawk and Tactical Tailor.

I am leaning towards this rig from BlackHawk because it has pouches for 6 AR mags and the MOLLE webbing to add whatever pouches to it also.

This is a nice rig from Tactical Tailor that can be set up any way you like but you'll have to buy all the pouches separately.

Eagle Industries has some nice rigs too.

For the price you can get a better quality rig. It may not have all the bells and whistles but it will last longer than that airsoft rig will. I know this first hand because we bought a few of those and put them through some of our own R&D and destroyed them on a paintball field doing nothing even remotely extreme. :|

The pouches will hold up fairly well but the vest will not nor will the belt. The buckles are also not made to withstand alot of use, the clips break after a while so I would steer clear from any pouch held shut with clips, the hook and loop closures are the best.

Plus those vests are not made for "full figured" operators, so unless you're a buck 50 tops, they won't fit without some major battlefield adjustments.

Actually, I would recommend a drop leg subload over a chest right. It looks less tacticool, and can be accessed from more positions than a chest rig. Also more comfortable, and interferes less with shouldering a rifle or shotgun.

I REALLY like SOE's gear, and I use their rally man subload.

http://www.tacticalresponsegear.com/cat ... 55f9143ce8

It is adjustable to take AR or AK mags, and with some shotgun pullout trays, it can even hold 12ga rounds.

The eagle universal chest rig is pretty nice too.

That vest you show would be way too much for use at a standard ACTS match...MAYBE for the Iron Man 3-Gun competition, but there are much better rigs. Besides...that's not a chest rig, which is your original request. :)

I don't think I've shot more than 120 rounds on any stage at any local match I've been to, not even the Independence Day Rifle Match, which is only about rifles. Thus, a chest rig with 3 or 4 mags + 1 in the gun will be sufficient for 95% of the competition you're looking at, based on what I know of your request.

Also, PM inbound with some additional info...I didn't want to turn this thread into a sales ad.

If you absolutely must go with a chest-rig, I would suggest going with an incredibly minimal rig. If I were to buy one right now, I would use the Eagle MOLLE Chest rig. Chest rigs are okay, but just okay. As TurdFerguson mentioned, they can be difficult to access in some positions (like prone). More importantly to me, they restrict airflow.

Currently, I'm using a shoulder bag for my "tactical" work, similar to this one. I can put several magazines in it, it has a built in dump-pouch, and an admin pouch. It moves anywhere I want it to, and can use it as a rest if I need to.

If I were to make a new rig, it would most likely be a War-Belt.

They're actually separate pouches for each individual mag and they seat deep enough to where the bottoms won't clank together.

A full Molle rig from Eagle is a very good choice because it's easy to set it up just like you want it. Avoid the temptation to put a bunch of crap on there that you don't need! I have been using an Eagle Universal/SKD Chest Rig for a while now, and it's been very useful and comfortable.

Others on here mentioned shoulder-bags - I've tried a few of those and I really like them, spefically the Gearslinger and Active Shooter series from Maxpedition. They make some very durable equipment.
