What is IDPA? I have been curious about competition shooting for a while now. From what I have read and seen online it looks like tons of fun. How does one get into some sort of low level competition shooting just for fun? Are there any ranges in AZ that have tactical-like course for shooting? I am ex military and I remember how fun it was when I was being taught to shoot. I would like to get into more civilian stuff like that but I can't justify spending too much.

Check with these guys...http://www.pimapistol.org/

As for your other questions, yes- here in SV we run a training set up (tactical pistol, shotgun, threegun, etc.) utilizing the combined skills of everyone from Cooper to Ayoob and more- it costs 2-3$ for range fees and the time to drive out every two weeks!

We have instructors available from Police, Military, BP and private...guess what- we do it just so that we can LEARN...and stay alive.
